Welcome to West Yorkshire Textile Heritage

Textiles have been integral to the development of West Yorkshire. The industry has created a rich and diverse landscape and culture which is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike: museums display extensive collections of pattern books, tools and machinery; the towns and cities have a range of textile related buildings, from mill complexes to cloth market halls, some are still working mills, other have been converted to shops, galleries and housing; and the glorious countryside is dotted with old weaver’s cottages, the remains of fulling mills and more.

This website helps you to find the best places to experience this heritage and gives access to the highlights of the region’s museum collections online.
